Today is Tuesday, September 3rd.  Here are your morning announcements:

1) All COOP seminars are located in the South Side of the Cafeteria.  All COOP students should bring their Chromebooks with them, fully charged and/or with their chargers. 

2) Peer Helper Seminars are happening in the Library for today.  Any Peer Helpers need to meet in the Library with their fully charged Chromebooks.

Second round of auditions are ready to go.  A meeting will be held in the upper drama studio on Monday Sept. 9 (at lunch) to discuss these auditions (room 267). This meeting is for ALL people that participated in the first round of auditions, as well as all grade 9 students, any students new to ENSS, OR anyone that was unable to make the first audition last school year. GOLF TEAM

ENSS has a golf team and you can try to become a member! Meeting for this year’s upcoming golf team is this Friday (at lunch) in the drama studio (room 267). 

→ Today is National Skyscraper Day!  Did you know…. skyscrapers have only been around for about 130 years. The world’s first skyscraper was completed in 1885 in Chicago and it stood only 138 feet tall - a mere 10 stories!  That would not even count as a skyscraper today! But the name stuck, and initially any building that towered high over the surrounding structures was dubbed a skyscraper. Over time, our ability to engineer and construct skyscrapers improved drastically, and now a building must have at least 40 floors to be classified as a skyscraper at all.

Peer Tutors are meeting in the Library during their class time today.

CROSS COUNTRY TEAM - Mandatory meeting at lunch tomorrow (WEDNESDAY) at the beginning of lunch.  Optional easy run tomorrow after school - meet at the bleachers by the track.  First official practice Thursday (Meet at the bleachers by the track).

→ Today is National Macadamia Nut Day! 

Macadamia trees are native to Australia and are classified as a tree type that consists of four species, each able to produce edible nuts. For this reason, the tree is now grown in different regions of the world, the macadamia nut is also known as the Queensland nut, the maroochi nut, and the bauple nut. Rare as they are, macadamia nuts are highly sought after in the culinary world.

Anyone who is interested in running Cross-country this year should come to a meeting today AT THE BEGINNING of LUNCH in the LIBRARY!  First official practice tomorrow after school (meet at the bleachers by the track)

Anyone interested in trying out for the Senior Boys Soccer Team can come to room 222 today at lunch to sign up and pick up a permission form. Tryouts begin on Thursday at 2:30 on the soccer field.

→ Today is National Cheese Pizza Day! 

Hold the toppings, please! National Cheese Pizza Day is celebrated annually on September 5, and it’s time for you to celebrate in cheese-pizza style. We all love the classics, like pepperoni, pizza with pineapple, barbecued chicken pizza, or juicy meat lovers. But nothing surpasses the basics of holding a gently folded, single slice of melty deliciousness — the cheese pizza.

Each year, more than 2 billion pounds of pizza cheese is produced in the U.S. alone. 

So on this special day, savor a classic slice of ooey, gooey cheese pizza for yourself, and share a slice or two with some of your very best friends.

The first tryout for the senior boys soccer team takes place today from 2:30-4:00 outside on the soccer field. Shin pads and cleats are mandatory. If you missed the signup yesterday and still want to try out, please see Mme. Millington or Mr. Corkum to pick up a permission form.

→ Today is National Read a Book Day! 

While National Read a Book Day is believed to have originated in the US, other details of the day’s history are unclear. What is clear, though, is our love for books! And, for many, this is a welcomed day because 81% of us don’t feel we spend as much time reading as we would like. So, today is the perfect opportunity to set aside a little time to catch up on our “to read” list.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

There will be a brief meeting today at the start of lunch in Gym C for any boys interested in playing Junior or Senior volleyball this year.  Please attend this meeting to get a form to tryout.  First tryout is Monday morning starting at 7:00 am.  See you there 

Senior Boys Soccer

Tryouts for the senior boys soccer team will continue on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday next week from 2:30-4:00. You MUST hand in a permission form to Mme. Millington or Mr. Corkum and bring shin pads and cleats in order to try out.

Teddy Bear Day is celebrated on September 9 annually, a day set aside for everyone to bring out all their teddy bears to thank them for their companionship, the wonderful moments we’ve had with them, and all the days and nights they’ve comforted us. The teddy bear is one of the most popular toys for children, and it occupies a particular place in the hearts of many adults as well.

→ Today is National TV DINNER Day! 

National TV Dinner Day is celebrated on September 10. It is the holiday that captures the essence of TV Dinner. This is a day to let yourself enjoy a complete meal without having to cook. It is also a good time to enjoy a nice show on TV.

If you are interested in participating, please come out to room 304 after school on Thursday. We meet from 2:20 to 4:00. If you would like more information, please contact Mr. Audas on Edsby. We hope to see you there!”

Art Club is starting up again this Wednesday, from 2:20 to 4pm, in Room 201.   Art Club welcomes all, and is a place for those who like to create, to  hang-out with friends,  talk, draw and work on Art assignments. Bring a friend and come by and say Hi.  I am German, and I approve this message.

Yesterday, someone,  bizarrely, gave the wrong room number for Art Club.  Art Club is today in Rm 102, from 2:20 to 4.  Make sure you arrange a ride home. 

We Supreme and Majestic Leaders  Art Club, and the Invisible Club, will do our best to figure out who misspoke the room number and give them a weird look.

Video games originated around 1940, but today, the video game industry is an 18 billion dollar industry that constantly churns out new fun favorites for all ages. The term “video game” encompasses all kinds of digital games, from old-school Mario games to hot new VR ones like “Beat Saber.” The huge array of video games means there will be something for everyone to play today — whether it’s an old arcade game or Fortnite.

Positive Thinking Day is celebrated on September 13 every year to highlight the rewards of positive thinking. Positive Thinking Day is all about thinking positive thoughts. It’s easy to be pessimistic and cynical about things — which is not entirely bad because it prepares you for the worst. However, too much negativity can have an adverse impact on our emotional well-being. Research says that you can prolong your life with happiness and optimism. So, on Positive Thinking Day, and other days too, train yourself to see the bright side in every situation and keep a positive attitude always.

Preen your feathers and warm up your singing voice because September 17 is National Pet Bird Day. It’s a chance to recognize and celebrate the joy that being a bird’s pet parent can bring to your life. National Pet Bird Day is sponsored every year by the Bird Enjoyment and Advantage Koalition. The organization promotes safe, fun, and responsible bird ownership and has tips and tools to help you find your feathered soul mate. 

The senior and junior boys soccer teams play their first games of the season today on our turf! Come out in full force and cheer on the players! The seniors play at 3:00 and the juniors at 4:30. Go Dragons Go!

• National rice krispie treat day

Rice Krispie Treat Day on September 18 is a day dedicated to the no-bake, quick to make yummy gooey sweet treats. Since the treat is so easy to make, it has become a staple favorite of millions of households that consume the treat on a daily basis. The treat gained so much popularity over the years that it was launched officially by brands across the world and sold in stores. To celebrate the day, munch on some Rice Krispies and share your love for the delicious treat.

Congratulations to the ENSS Cross-country team for their successful meet yesterday at Trinity College.  A special shout out to Individual top 10 finishes:  In the Junior Girls division Anastasiia Syrovatska was 3rd!  In the Junior Boys division Sullivan Tait was 1st, Jack Turner was 3rd and Dawson Dunham was 4th.  And in the senior girls division Cadence Tait was 7th.  All our teams placed in the top 6 in their divisions and congratulations to the Junior boys team (consisting of Sullivan Tait, Jack Turner, Dawson Dunham, Ethan McDougall, Eli Christian, Alex Botting, Noah Wambolt, Walter Levesque, and Chaiden Germaine) for bringing home the win!  Best of luck next week at Pre-OFSAA!

• National talk like a pirate day

Created by two friends in 1995 as a joke, Talk Like a Pirate Day, on September 19, has become a beloved fun holiday that lets everyone channel their inner Jack Sparrow. Although real pirates likely didn’t use much of the vocabulary we now think of as “pirate lingo,” talk Like a Pirate Day gives us a fun opportunity to break out of our routine, learn some history, and celebrate a bygone era. So gather up some maties, and let your imagination take you on an adventure on the high seas!

• National string cheese day

Every year, September 20th gives us the opportunity to celebrate National String Cheese Day. If you’ve ever tasted the stringy deliciousness of this snack, then you know it’s no wonder it has its own holiday. String cheese refers to variations of cheese where the proteins are aligned to make the cheese stringy. When heated up to 140°F and stretched, the milk proteins in mozzarella cheese line up, making it possible to peel strips or ‘strings’ from the main block of cheese.

Speaking of Cheese, the next date to get your photos taken if you were absent this time around, will be Friday November 8. Again that’s Friday November 8 Photo Day.

With all the baggage life gives us sometimes, we all need time to cool off to focus on ourselves, and Innergize Day, which occurs on the day after the autumn equinox, on September 23 this year, gives us the perfect chance to do so. If you never have time to relax and rejuvenate, you have no excuse on a day that was created just for that. Today is the best time to do whatever gives you peace and makes your soul smile.

Today is the first day of our Spirit Week! It is Wacky Sock & Crocks Day! Cruise the school while rocking your wacky, wild, wonky, wonderful socks or crocks! Tomorrow is Superhero Day, Wednesday is Jersey Day and Thursday is Costume Day for the Terry Fox Run!

• National punctuation day

From the lowly comma to the flamboyant ampersand, National Punctuation Day on September 24 celebrates the punctuation that makes our words legible and gets our point across. “Let’s eat, Grandma!” or “Let’s eat Grandma!” — it’s clear that punctuation saves lives. Though you might not have consciously considered punctuation since elementary school, you likely use it every day. Every year, the creator of the holiday sets a punctuation challenge, and punctuation quizzes and games can be found all over the country.

• National binge day

Binge Day is celebrated annually on September 25 as a fun and relaxing day to binge-watch your favorite movie, series, or T.V. show. The day is not a federal holiday, so it is not a day off unless it falls on the weekend. The holiday can be celebrated alone, or with friends while watching anything on T.V. or on the big screen while having snacks. 

Today is Jersey Day! Rock the jersey of your favourite team or rock your own jersey for your team! Sports-related hats, hoodies, shirts, and scarves count too! Tomorrow is Costume Day for the Terry Fox Run!

• National alpaca day

Alpaca Day is on September 26 each year. Alpacas are cute, fuzzy animals that have been helping human beings in agriculture for a significant time. These animals have unique personalities, are highly sensitive to their environments, and are most timid in temperament. Alpaca Day raises awareness about the need for the conservation of alpacas and their habitats.

GOLF TEAM

Yesterday your ENSS golf team played in their 1st of 2 league events. Cael Hussey was low golfer of the day with a 73 and our ENSS boys team was low team for the day. That team consisted of Cael Hussey, Holden Webster, Ethan Williams and Ben Laird. Their second league event is next Monday as they prepare for Bay of Quinte on Thursday.

National Custodian Day!

They work while we sleep. Sometimes we walk around them in the halls not always “seeing” them or their work as important. That’s why we love this day, National Custodian Day, which rolls around every  October 2nd.  It recognizes the hard work that it takes to keep our facilities in tip-top shape to make sure we have schools and workplaces that are spotless and sanitary. Custodians are our first line of defense of the war on germs and often, it’s a thankless task. So, on National Custodian Day,  show your appreciation to the custodians who clean the office buildings or schools that you frequently attend.

National Mean Girls Day!

Mean Girls Day comes around annually on October 3. We are celebrating this jazzy day by initiating the best possible programs such as ‘Try the worn out’, ‘Speak fetch’, and ‘Say yes to plastics’. This cult classic is definitely worth a yearly day of remembrance. We welcome you on board to unleash the madness and delve into the faulty. Mean Girls Day, here we come.

Yesterday the Cross-Country team won the Bay of Quinte Invitational!  The Junior Boy and Senior Boy teams won their divisions!  The Senior girls were 2nd, the Novice Boys and Junior Girls placed 3rd, and our Novice girls placed 4th!

The following 10 athletes were top 10 in their divisions.  Roslynn Marshall was 7th in the Novice Girls division, Jordan Loveless was 9th in the Novice Boys division.  Jack Turner, Sullivan Tait, and Dawson Dunham were 2nd, 4th, and 5th respectively, in the junior boys division.  In the Senior girls division, Cadence Tait was 3d and Cara Perrault was 6th.  Lastly, in the senior boys division Owen McDougall was 2nd and Nate Boomhouwer was 3rd.

National Forgiveness and Happiness Day!

National Forgiveness & Happiness Day on October 7th, is a day that celebrates forgiveness and the amount of happiness it can bring to one’s life. While many people hold on to grudges and fantasise about revenge, studies have revealed that the best way to heal is to actually forgive the person who hurt you. And no, forgiving someone does not make you weak. Instead, it contributes to the creation of a much more successful and happy you. This National Forgiveness & Happiness Day, fill your heart with the light of love and practice the art of forgiveness. 

2- There will be a brief meeting at the start of lunch tomorrow in room 246 for any students interested in signing up for a swim team. This meeting is just to get an idea of interest and numbers.

 For Cross-country, this week we practice Monday, Tuesday, Thursday this week. Meet after school today at the track for Fruit Loops!

National Pierogi Day!

Each year, we set aside October 8th to celebrate this delicious Polish food. Pierogies were traditionally considered a peasant food, but they eventually gained popularity and spread throughout all social classes—including nobles in Europe. We can see why—they’re made of unleavened dough, boiled, and then baked and fried with butter. Then, they’re stuffed with the most delicious of fillings: potato and cheese, potato and onion, cabbage, mushrooms and spinach… the list goes on! And if that isn’t decadent enough, Pierogies are often served with melted butter, sour cream, fried bacon crumbles, sautéed mushrooms and onions and/or green onion.

Yesterday, your ENSS golf team competed at the COSSA Championship. The boys team consisting of Ben Laird, Cael Hussey, Holden Webster and Ethan Williams came second and won the silver medal. Kora Ferguson, in the girls division, finished 6th and qualified for OFSAA. Great job team. Boys can pick up their medals from Mr. Hussey any lunch hour in the drama room.

Emergency Nurses Day!

Emergency Nurses Day is celebrated on the second Wednesday of October every year, which falls on October 9 this year. Nursing as a profession requires a great deal of compassion and expertise, and nurses working in hospital emergency wards have to deal with numerous difficulties all through their working hours. A special focus is placed on Emergency Nurses Day, which is a part of a wider celebration of Emergency Nurses Week. Events are held around the world to express gratitude and show support for emergency nurses, who provide invaluable care and assistance to those in need.

National Mental Health Day!

National Mental Health Day is on October 10 and as our understanding of mental health grows, we grow along with it. Mental health has come a long way since the early nineties when the World Federation of Mental Health officially established the day. Our self-awareness and sensitivity towards it have changed things for the better. Our language surrounding mental health has improved as words like “crazy” and “lunatic” are used less and we come to better understand that they can be unintentionally hurtful and stigmatising. While we’ve learned a lot, there’s still so much more we can do to evolve as a society.

National Spread Joy Day!

National Spread Joy Day, observed on October 11, is an opportunity to shift the tone of our newsfeeds and newsrooms from negativity to joy. Today, people are urged to surprise friends and relatives with a gift, a cup of coffee, or mail. The objective is to make each other happy. The day was initiated in response to the escalating negative thinking and hatred observed on social media, in our news, and in politics to effect proactive change in our communities. We can spread happiness if we concentrate more on the good. This is the message of National Spread Joy Day.

Yesterday the ENSS Cross country team won the overall team title at the Bay of Quinte Championship. 

Individually, Anastasiia Syrovatska was the Junior girls champion and Jack Turner was the Junior Boy Champion.

ENSS took first place in three out of six divisions – junior boys, senior girls, and senior boys. ENSS novice girls, novice boys, and junior girls were second.  This earned them 54 points out of a possible 60!

The Blue Dragons head to Jackson Park in Peterborough next week (Oct. 23) for the COSSA championship!  Good luck Blue Dragon runners!

National Chocolate Cupcake Day is every year on October 18th – a day where office break rooms everywhere fill with a special kind of joy only brought by chocolate cupcakes (thanks Jan). Haunted Halls is back! We will be open for two spooky nights this year: Friday, October 25th, and Saturday, October 26th. National Bologna Day!

This October 24th, make sure to bring your brown bag lunches to school because it’s National Bologna Day! Everyone’s favourite processed lunch meat has its own day. Bologna is named after the Italian city of the same name, but there they call it mortadella, which is a sausage with bits of lard and peppercorns in it. Canadian Bologna, as you may have noticed, is distinctly different, but no less loved.

Are you interested in learning about the Apprenticeship Pathway?  KPR families curious to learn more about apprenticeship pathways to skilled trades in Ontario are invited to join us for an evening of learning. Each of three regional events will feature information about the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program, skilled trades in Ontario, and a chance to hear from KPR youth in the apprenticeship pathway along with adult apprentices and journey people.

On November 7th from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m, students and their families are invited to attend Cobourg Collegiate Institute to learn more about the Apprenticeship Pathway.

The ENSS cross-country team won the overall team title at the COSSA Championship, held in Jackson Park in Peterborough today! ENSS earned a total of 41 team points. St. Peter’s was second place, and CCI and IE Weldon tied for 3rd place.

ENSS took first place in the Junior Boys and Senior Boys divisions, and the Senior Girls were second place. All three of those teams will advance to OFSAA, to be held in Ottawa on November 4. Three individual ENSS runners also qualified for OFSAA: Roslyn Marshall (10 in Novice Girls), Jordan Loveless (11th in Novice Boys) and Anastasia Syrovatska (2nd in junior girls). The ENSS Novice Girls and Junior Girls teams were third place while the novice boys were sixth.

Individual COSSA finishes in the top 3 of their fields were as following:

Junior Girls: Anastaiisa Syrovatska (2nd)

Junior Boys: Sullivan Tait (1st), Jack Turner (2nd), Dawson Dunham (3rd)

Senior Girls: Cadence Tait (3rd)

Senior Boys: Owen McDougall (3rd)

National First Responders Day!

National First Responders Day on October 28 recognizes the heroic men and women who make it their business to take immediate action when disaster strikes. Not sure what a first responder does? Just think about 9/11 for a moment. Firefighters, police, paramedics, and more — rushing into Lower Manhattan. Whether you’ve had your own emergency or not, it’s not hard to understand and appreciate the dangerous and difficult work they do.

The Canadian Coast Guard College will be here to do a presentation Monday, November 4th.  All grades are welcome to attend - if you are interested in learning more, sign up at student services. Attendance is checked!

After announcements, all OFSAA Cross-country qualifiers need to come to room 222 to hand in or pick up their SIGNED OFSAA forms.

National Cat Day!

National Cat Day is celebrated on October 29th. It was created by Colleen Paige to bring awareness to the number of cats that need to be rescued each year. With 40-70 recognized Cat breeds, there is a cat for all cat lovers.  Cats remind us that just when you think they’ve lost interest in you, they’ll turn around and melt your hearts. When it appears they’re too busy staring out at passing cars, chasing nylon mice, and sending tiny multi-colored balls to their under-the-refrigerator graves, they’ll somehow let you know that their very world revolves around you. Just wait. It’ll happen when you least expect it. Cats have their own timetable.

The DNA Club will be gathering today at lunch. This group welcomes all students and focuses on creating safer spaces for 2SLGBTQ+ folks and their allies. Bring your lunch and a friend to Rm 135 - located across from the Music room. New members are always welcome. Hope to see you there!

National Candy Corn Day on October 30th is an Autumn treat for everyone. They are commonly placed in store windows and at parties. We eat them like popcorn, by the handful, and so it seems only natural that we celebrate them for a day. Would you believe that technically they are a vegetable? Well, they are. Halloween! 

Halloween on October 31st is undoubtedly the creepiest, most ghostly holiday of them all. Children dress up as Batman, the Joker, Wonder Woman, or some other favourite character; go to parties or walk their neighbourhoods with jack o’ lanterns full of candy as they go trick-or-treating. Spooky decorations fill windows and porches and screams can be heard in living rooms up and down the country as we collectively binge our favourite horror movies.

There will be an opportunity for trick or treating at lunchtime today. There will be orange pumpkin stickers posted outside participating classroom doors. There will be 10 rooms total. Find a pumpkin sticker and then say "trick or treat" and a teacher will give you some candy. There will be other options available for those who can't have candy. Costumes are encouraged but anyone is welcome to participate! Remember to bring something to collect candy in!

National Authors Day!

We all have that book — or two — that we can’t get enough of, and this holiday gives us the chance to appreciate the brilliant minds that created them. A book can be a temporary escape from the stresses of life. This November 1st, celebrate National Author’s Day by curling up with your favourite book, a hot beverage, and spending time drifting into another world. In order to appreciate the writers who help inspire us, it’s important to get a sense of the time, blood, sweat, and tears that go into getting words on the page. Whether it’s fiction, fantasy, or biographies, books play a major role in our lives and we must celebrate their creators! Today, take a moment to appreciate the authors that spent countless hours writing your favourite books.

To end off our spirit week today is cozy comfy day! Make sure to end the week off strong and show your school spirit by wearing your comfy clothes!

Treaty Recognition Week is November 3-9, and it offers an opportunity for all of us in KPR to learn more about the importance of treaties in Ontario.  

First Nations were the original occupants of the land now known as Ontario.  Treaties, which are legally binding agreements that set out the rights, responsibilities, and relationships of First Nations and the federal and provincial governments, were signed with the intent of delivering mutual benefits.

Ontario is covered by 46 treaties and other agreements, such as land purchases by the Crown. These agreements were signed between 1781 and 1930.

Schools within our Board sit on land within the Williams Treaties of 1923, signed with the Mississauga and Chippewa Nations. The Williams Treaties First Nations include the Mississaugas of Alderville First Nation, Curve Lake First Nation, and Hiawatha First Nation, as well as other neighbouring First Nations. This year we recognize 101 Years of the Williams Treaty.

Treaties helped to establish relationships between First Nations and Europeans, and between people and the land. At KPRDSB, we recognize the importance of this week and its intent yet we continue to strive to weave Indigenous knowledge and histories into our daily work in valuing Turtle Island's First Nations, Métis and Inuit.

This week is Treaties Recognition week in Ontario. At KPR we believe that our students, staff and communities are enriched by learning about the histories, cultures, contributions and perspectives of First Nation, Métis and Inuit peoples in Canada.

To promote understanding, and as part of our commitment to championing Indigenous education, achievement and awareness, we are very pleased to once again recognize November as Indigenous Peoples Awareness Month. The month of November was chosen because of other special dates and events in November, including Treaty Recognition Week, Louis Riel Day and Inuit Day.

We know that we have much work to do to continue to raise awareness and understanding amongst our students about Indigenous histories, cultures, perspectives and contributions. We are all invited to transform educational experiences for ALL students by including historically and culturally accurate and relevant curriculum, teaching and learning about Indigenous peoples, histories and perspectives.

November 6th is National Nacho Day! On this day we celebrate everyone’s favourite snack no matter how you make it. Chicken or beef? Beans or salsa? Cheddar or that yellow stuff they top chips with at football games? There’s no one specific way to make it as long as it has two main ingredients: Chips and as much cheese as you can pile on!

This week is Treaties Recognition week in Ontario.

We have taken the intention of this week and extended it throughout our school year with all schools in KPR beginning their day with a land acknowledgement.  This acknowledgement was created in consultation with the KPR Indigenous Education Advisory Committee: 

“The land acknowledgement is an invitation for each of you to know where you are and whose land you are on. To know that you have benefited from the people that once lived here, hunted here, travelled here, and once felt the earth beneath their moccasins. To know the history that until very recently was purposefully suppressed in the curriculum, and to acknowledge that you know and are aware that you have benefitted from Indigenous Peoples and are now taking actions to reconcile with this history.” 

Today is International Inuit Day. Take time today to celebrate Inuit people and amplify their voices. First celebrated in 2006, this day is intended to celebrate the identities, languages, and cultures of over 160 000 Inuit from several Arctic regions in Canada, Alaska, Greenland, and Russia.

Do you like chocolate, and competition? If you do, you may be interested in ENSS’s own Chocolate challenges! From Tuesday November 12th to the 15th in the Cafeteria Chocolate challenges will be held at lunch. Everyone who would like to participate is to sign up in teams of two but hurry! We are only taking 12 teams. You can sign up at the student government office at 4 corners. The challenges will take place in the cafeteria at lunch. But there is a catch: each day a number of teams will be eliminated until we are down to the final 3 where they will face off to become the chocolate challenge champion at our chocolate assembly on November 18th! There will be a prize to be won for the champions!!! The chocolate challenge poster is available for signup today!

National Kindness Day!

World Kindness Day is an international holiday that was formed in 1998, to promote kindness throughout the world and is observed annually on November 13th as part of the World Kindness Movement. It is observed in many countries including the United States, Canada, Japan, and Australia. Today, give compliments, hold doors open, and smile at strangers.

Attention all ENSS Students and Staff.  For the first time since 1984 the COSSA Junior Boys Volleyball Trophy has returned to Brighton! Yesterday at Quinte Christian High School, after 5 gruelling sets of volleyball action, your Junior Boys Dragons defeated a tough Crestwood team to enter the Gold Medal match against Quinte Christian High School.  With the bleachers packed with fans supporting the opposing team, your Junior Dragons dug deep and came back after losing the first set to take the match in game 4.  Coach Brydson and McNamee would like to congratulate our boys:
