The Co-operative Education Program (co-op) allows students to earn credits by
integrating course curriculum with learning at a work placement. Students in all pathways:
Apprenticeship, College, University, or the Workplace Pathway can participate and
experience success in the Cooperative Education Program.

COOP PLACEMENTS 
Students can choose from a broad range of practical, hands-on co-op opportunities in a variety of
sectors in the community that best suit their needs and interests, including (but not limited to):
● Hospitality and Tourism
● Manufacturing
● Agriculture
● Entrepreneur/Business and Technology
● Automotive & Heavy Equipment Service Technicians
● Legal Services
● Construction
● Animal Care, Training and Grooming

Cooperative Education placements in a Skilled Trade are referred to as an OYAP (Ontario Youth
Apprenticeship Program) placement. For more information about what a skilled trade is,

ONTARIO YOUTH APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM (OYAP) 

What is the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP)? 

The Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) is a School to Work program that opens the door for students to explore and work in apprenticeship occupations through the Cooperative Education program.

Participant OYAP :

All students that have their COOP placement in an apprenticeable skilled trade are OYAP participants. This is not something that students apply for, and it is not considered competitive. However, students must complete an OYAP Participant form prior to the start of their placement.

Accelerated OYAP:

This is a specialized and competitive program for which there is an application. Students interested in one of the OYAP programs being offered that year will apply with Miss. Leger, in the COOP office, in semester 2 of their GRADE 11 year. Qualifying students are interviewed and top candidates will be offered a seat in Level One Certification schooling in the second semester of their grade 12 year.
